EARKLEEN
is a patented veterinary product, a cleaning mixture for dogs,
cats and small mammals ears. "It was designed specifically for
cleaning infected ears as well as a maintenance product for
normal ears". The mixture may be used either daily or weekly
depending on its need. The solution is applied directly in
undiluted form to the animal's ear down to the drum. It then
may be either blotted out or shaken out by the animal. Any
residue left in the ear will not be harmful to the animal.|

ACTION SPECIFIC INGREDIENTS
In actual use in the ear, the alcohol is a solvent for the oils. The acetic acid makes the waxes more soluble. The soap (Benzethonium Chloride) is an emulsifier to help keep the mixture and the dissolved waxes and oils in the ears in solution. Benzethonium Chloride is also effective in dissolving pus and exudate normally found in infected ears. The hydrogen peroxide acts as a scrubbing agent and in co-operating with the soap forms bubbles which act to aid mechanically in the removal of the oils and waxes. The acetic acid leaves a small residue which is pleasant smelling and which has a mild anti-bacterial effect.
